BANGALORE: Sun Microsystems are the official technology platform partner of
Andhra Pradesh State Police for their new eCops project, hosting the entire
state database for crime records and run mission critical applications for the
state police department.
To enable this AP State police would be using multiple Sun’s E450 servers
to run this project across the state. The project would host a state database of
crime records and would assist in the day-to-day functioning of all police
stations in the statewide network. The eCops project would run applications that
would enable citizens to interface directly with the police department over the
Net securely.
Hyderabad based Locuz is leading the initiative as the prime contractor by
working with Sun Microsystems, to build the technology solution for the project.
Locuz, a system integrator, would do the end-to-end integration of Sun Servers
and Storage at all the locations in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Locuz would
also provide the necessary back up and Disaster Recovery system for the project.
Sun Microsystems India, managing director, Bhaskar Pramanik, said,
"Tracking and controlling the databases for crime records and running
mission critical applications is a highly complex process that requires a
rigorous balance between system performance and high availability. Sun delivers
on both of these requirements."
"We were looking for a technology that is robust, reliable, scalable,
available and proven. And we found all that in Sun" said Andhra Pradesh
Police, IG - Police Computer Services, SV Ramana Murthy.
