Sun's

marketing head for India KP Unnikrishnan said that the challenge now was to

accommodate the growing numbers of developers interested in the event, which has

evolved into a brand. "We were expecting about 5000 developers, but we could accomodate only 2500," said Unnikrishnan.

“This year, we had around 175 students who came all the way from Mysore to

attend the event and we could not turn them back. So we are wondering if we

should have Sun Tech days in two locations,” he said.

Unnikrishnan said that Sun's developer websites was also helping developers

keep up with the product level happenings in the company.

"We have regular Webcasts and Net talks with key product people at Sun

for developers, every quarter.. around 60-70 percent of the APAC audience is from

India."

Sun's key message at the event this year was collaboration among developers. He said that innovation could happen only when developers get

involved with each other and that "they have to get out of their silos and

interact."
