Sun opens learning center in Chennai

CHENNAI, INDIA: Sun Learning Services, a division of Sun Microsystems India has announced the launch of its learning center in Chennai, Nungambakkam.

Inaugurating the center, Bhaskar Pramanik, president India GEM, Sun Microsystems, said, “In the dynamic environment that the IT industry operates in, keeping up to date with changing technologies is a must for IT professionals. The objective behind setting up this center is to provide IT professionals in the country more opportunities and access to cutting edge technologies.”

“At Sun, we offer training in a wide variety of options to provide flexibility and control and this dedicated learning center is a step in that direction. Chennai is home to a large talent pool and this drove our decision to set up a Sun learning center here,” he added.

With special Sun Authorized Instructors who are technical experts delivering lectures and hands-on experiences, the center aims at empowering the workforce on prevalent technologies. Sun's Learning Services’ offerings enable deployment of Sun's solutions for software application development, system administration, storage and lifecycle management, Sun said in a statement.

This is the second such learning center in India after Bangalore, which opened in March this year. The learning center would offer training in Java and XML technologies, Identity Management, Solaris OS coursers, Sun Java Composite Application suite (Java CAPS), Servers and High Availability, Storage and Sun Hardware systems.
