Strive for internalistaion, beyond certificates: KPMG

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The preceding economic recession has led corporates and IT majors rethink and redesign their business models. A ‘KPMG in India’, survey outcome reveals that there is a scope for further improvement in terms of impact on organizational performance, by better alignment right from the planning stage.

The survey report titled, “Business Excellence through Process Maturity, is aimed to understand how process maturity enables business excellence in knowledge based organizations and derive insights that will help organizations achieve excellence.

A press brief shows that key drivers for an organization to initiate Process Excellence program are attaining Certifications / attestations, increasing employee morale and reducing cost of poor quality.

The survey results show that over 90 percent executives feel that aligning to process models/ standards

have significantly improved their individual role and their perspectives of business processes while over 80 percent feel that aligning to process models/ standards have significantly improved team and organizational

performance.

Kumar Parakala, Head IT advisory services, KPMG in India, said that the role of Organizational Excellence needs to be viewed from multiple dimensions of customers, employees and suppliers/partners to be effective from a holistic standpoint. “Hence, confining to certifications / attestations alone, will not help organizations in their quest to achieve holistic business excellence.”

And K.K. Raman, Executive Director IT advisory services, KPMG in India, added, “Success of the initiatives largely depends on the way they are internalized and ingrained as part of the organizational culture and way of

life. Involving key stakeholders right from the beginning and putting first things first can save valuable efforts and time and help generate better returns from the initiative.”
