BANGALORE: US-based storage solutions provider StorageTek Corporation plans to spend a "few" million dollars in its Indian operations making it a wholly owned subsidiary from its current liaison status for its operations in the country. "We have not earmarked a investment for India, but will spend a few million dollars in the country after the formalities of the subsidiary status are completed within the next six months, said StorageTek, South East Asia and South Asia Operations, Managing Director, Andy Srinivasan.

Once the company receives a subsidiary status, it will be able to hold spares and service better, feels Srinivasan. It also plans to start offering professionals and consulting services to its customers in India after six months, while long terms plans include setting up a export oriented unit offering its services to its customers globally. Employee strength in the company is also expected to rise from seven to 30 by next year.

At present StorageTek reaches to its customers through its partners in India, which includes names like Wipro, CMS, CMC and HCL. Once with the subsidiary status the company will directly deliver the second level customer support, informed Srinivasan.
