StorageTek appoints GAVS for tech support

CHENNAI: StorageTek, provider of storage solutions for digitized data, has chosen Chennai-based GAVS Information Services Pvt. Ltd. as its preferred provider for an offshore based 24x7 fully managed IT production support service. The international support center in Chennai has been set up by GAVS with an investment of over $ 1 million

and the contract, spread for over a period of two years, is worth $ 5 million.



According to Keron McGarry, IT Director, International Operations, StorageTek Corporation, "GAVS will take care of our operational, networking, ERP and infrastructure support. GAVS has been providing critical Network and Database Support Services onsite for over a year with great success.



The quality of services and the trust earned by GAVS made them a natural choice for outsourcing the extremely critical Level 2 and Level 3 support services." This is the first contact center in India to deploy VoIP, according to company sources. GAVS has recruited 50 professionals for the contact center for a period of two years.



Andy Srinivasan, Managing Director of StorageTek’s South-East Asia and South Asia said that StorageTek’s near term plan is to strategically increase its presence in India through increased level of outsourcing of many different functions. The increased direct presence in India also intended to provide support for hardware, software and professional services to their partners as well as customers.
