The company claims that, its dual interface EEPROM products will deliver information when combined with an RFID reader such as in a NFC enabled smartphone.

The EEPROMs will enable both wired and wireless two way reading or writing with a low power interface. The dual-interface EEPROMs also enable power to be supplied autonomously through RF signals. As per the company, these EEPROMs can help with the development of applications that enable easy monitoring of health information such as blood pressure and body temperature at any time or place.

Apart from the dual interface EEPROMs, ST will also roll out other products that include an NFC transceiver and controller. Seeing the increasing incorporation of payment systems into smart phones and tablets, ST's NFC products are mostly used by the digital market. They can be used for a variety of NFC applications in transportation, smart metering, P2P, logical/physical access, and pairing.

In order to address the security and authentication issues, the company will use its AuKey security architecture and a Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
