He also added that Spansion Nihon would focus on serving the unique needs of the Japanese customers, once the acquisition is complete.

He said that Japan was a strategic market for Spansion. Spansion has announced that the new subsidiary would continue to serve Japan market primarily through the Fujitsu sales channel.

This was done taking into consideration the longstanding partnership between Spansion and Fujitsu that dates back to 2003.

Spansion said that the company alienated from Spansion Japan operationally and for financial reporting purposes. But Spansion still continues to own the stock of Spansion Japan.

This is located in Aizu-Wakamatsu and continues to manufacture wafers and provide sort services for Spansion on a foundry basis. Spansion Japan willingly entered into a proceeding under the Corporate Reorganization Law of Japan on February 9, 2009. They had lately emerged from bankruptcy.
