Gartner defines enterprise video content management as "software, appliances or software as a service (SaaS) intended to manage and facilitate the delivery of one-to-any on-demand video across Internet protocols." This report focuses on vendors that pursue internal, worker-facing video installations as a key part of their business.

"We believe the inclusion of Sonic Foundry in the first Magic Quadrant on the space is testament to our vision of providing the most comprehensive video management and distribution platform. As video creation and consumption grows at an ever increasing pace, we are gratified to provide our customers with the solutions they need to achieve scalable, streamlined initiatives," said Gary Weis, CEO, Sonic Foundry.

According to the report, inquiries related to enterprise video content management continue to rise, and vendor revenue growth in this category is significant. Gartner projects that by 2016, large companies will stream more than 16 hours of video per worker per month, up from 7.2 hours in 2010.

Sonic Foundry's Mediasite Enterprise Video Platform is an advanced, open and integrated approach to any enterprise strategy for creating, managing and distributing all video-based content. Mediasite is used by educational institutions for campus-wide academic video; corporations and government to stream executive communications, marketing and online training; and meeting and event professionals to create hybrid events and virtual meetings.
