Sonata Q3 net up 10 p.c. Y-o-Y

MUMBAI, INDIA: Indian software solutions company Sonata Software Ltd said on Tuesday that it recorded a net profit of Rs. 21.98 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2009, up 10 per cent Y-o-Y.

While the company's consolidated revenue for the quarter stood at Rs. 336 crore, EBIDTA for the quarter was at Rs. 46.42 crore, up 9 per cent YoY, it said in a statement.

Commenting on the results, B. Ramaswamy, president and managing director, Sonata Software, said the company is pleased with its overall performance and continued improvement in operational metrics this quarter.

“Our singular focus on delivering enhanced business value to our customers through simplified processes and flexible business models, have ensured that they can do more with less. This, together with our continuous investments in strengthening our capabilities, have resulted in sustained improvement,” he said.

Sonata said it is working for a Fortune 500 Global Hi-Tech manufacturing organization, with their supply chain excellence team in the creation of a lean and responsive supply chain.

It also said that a provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) management software in the US that is delivered via Software as a Service (SaaS) model has engaged Sonata to localize their product (for 24 languages) and accelerate solution delivery.

Sonata is helping a large manufacturer of aluminum extrusions increase their operational efficiency through the implementation of SAP Business-All-in-One solution. For an airline in the Middle East, Sonata is creating an online environment for their flight operations and HR functions.

This apart, for an engineering and design consultancies headquartered in the UK, Sonata is developing a Web 2.0 Intranet portal. Based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 Technology, the portal will provide the employees a platform to collaborate effectively with the organization. Sonata will leverage its expertise and Sonnet Assets to enable on-time delivery of the portal, it said in a statement.

Sonata is also working on some other major projects, the release added.
