SoftJin adopts hybrid business model

BANGALORE:  SoftJin Technologies, a customized EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tool development company, announced that it is adopting a hybrid model composed of outsourced R&D services and EDA Products. The outsourced R&D services are targeted to the Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing market and include EDA software development, High Performance FPGA based Design and Design Verification services for the semiconductor industry.  SoftJin’s EDA Products are in the area of Post Layout Design Data Processing and EDA tools for Programmable Platforms.

According to Nachiket Urdhwareshe, CEO, SoftJin Technologies,"The management of SoftJin took a conscious decision to firmly adopt a hybrid business model. As per the hybrid model, we are developing our own licensable Products and technologies in addition to continuing with customized design and development services to our customers in the semiconductor space. We believe these are complementary business strategies and enable us to maximally leverage our competencies to grow the business."

Among the notable customer wins in the outsourced R&D services business, the company has set-up an Off-Shore Development Center (ODC) in India for Cswitch Corporation, a semiconductor company developing high performing configurable solutions for the networking, storage, wireless base station and telecom markets. Cswitch’s solution offers performance levels approaching an ASIC, including a bandwidth up to 100Gbps, and the configurability of an FPGA. As per the agreement, SoftJin will have a dedicated team developing a variety of System tools, User tools and provide other design related services for Cswitch’s Configurable Switch Array.

In another major development indicating the company’s growth path, Vinod Malhotra, an industry veteran, has come onboard as the Vice President of Engineering. His responsibility would include driving the company’s R&D team and focus on developing Post-Layout EDA tools and technologies. Vinod was previously VP of Engineering at Poseidon Design Systems.
