Social media week organized by R Consulting, which commenced yesterday, witnessed professionals from different industries explaining and how social media made a huge impact in all their industries in various ways. The event has received 30,000+ attendees and has organized 800+ sessions which is a week long event.

Aditi Mittal, a stand-up comedian, explained the role of social media in her career. "The AIB roast has shown how social media has changed everything. Three roasts happened till date, but one went online which changed everything. Its because of Twitter, social media, Internet that our careers exist today. And today its upto you what you pick and choose. Its a self improving and self enforcing cycle. "

Today, India with 243 mn Internet users, 175 mn mobile Internet users and with 118 mn social media users it is quite inevitable that the paradigm shifts and digtal era is still at its infant stage and has way more to go. It is interesting to find out how professionals from different industries percieve it and use the platform to their advantage.

A major point which was discuused in the inaugural event was what do consumers want today? Referall marketing's prospects have accelerated with the boom of Internet and social media. " Who is saying what", has changed the dynamics over the past few years.

Bruce Lee Mani, musician, Frontman,Thermal and a Quarter, elaborated on how social media changed and boomed his career. He has also released a song 'Like Me' in his new album which explains the parameters of social media today. "We just don't party and have blasts. Today, when we do campaigns, it is amazing how music bands can influence the crowd. Its meaningful and social media is not just about 'Like Me'.
