Networks today launched its new EliteConnect family of wireless access
points, SMC2552W-G2 and SMC2555-AG2, aimed at SMBs and enterprise networks.
Both the enterprise wireless access points have added features such as Multiple
Service Set Identifier (SSID), Wireless Distribution System (WDS), Virtual Local
Area Network (VLAN) tagging and Wireless Multimedia (WMM) support.
An SMC statement said that flexible enterprise network management through
Command Line Interface (CLI), Web, Telnet, Secure Shell (SSH), Trivial File
Transfer Protocol (TFTP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) make it
simple and easy to monitor, troubleshoot, and view event logging.
"In the enterprise environment, security, range and flexibility are key
concerns and these wireless access points have it all," said Jimmy Goh,
vice-president of Marketing, SMC Networks Asia Pacific. "SMC's continued
commitment to Enterprise Wireless is shown through these new versions of access
points with leading edge technology and features with the flexibility to
maximize compatibility, bandwidth and/or range."
For extended range and coverage, users can choose among the wide selection of
detachable antennas with R-SMA connectors for an optional 2.4GHz High Gain. Both
the enterprise level wireless access point supports Power over Ethernet that
adheres to 802.3af standard, helping to reduce installation cost by using
standard Category 5 cable to provide power to the Access Points, the statement
said.
SMC added that these new access points can deliver advanced authentication and
encryption security features. These include the new WPA2, up to 152-bit WEP
encryption, AES encryption, 802.1x authentications and dynamic key management,
support for FUNK Odyssey and Microsoft RADIUS Server, MAC address
authentication, disabled SSID broadcast, and VLANs support are also now
available.
The EliteConnect universal wireless access point (SMC2555W-AG2) with 802.11a/b/g
compatibility and the EliteConnect wireless access point (SMC2552W-G2) with
802.11b/g will be available through all authorised SMC Network Channels at a
price range of Rs.14,031 and Rs.16,370 respectively.
