MUMBAI, INDIA: Elitecore Technologies Limited, the global provider of Cyberoam Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances is bidding to tap the security market in small and medium businesses (SMBs) space.
With successful launch of Cyberoam UTM appliances, now the company has entered the End point data protection suite for desktops largely targeted at SMB users. The Cyberoam End point data protection solution is developed at company's research and development (R&D) center in Ahmedabad by a technical team of 75 people.
While speaking to CyberMedia News, Elitecore Technologies' CEO Hemal Patel said, “Our Cyberoam appliances are for network security at large, however now we are entering into the desktop security space with our Cyberoam End point data protection solution that offers data leakage prevention. Mainly, the solution is developed and designed for the needs of SMBs.”
“When you look at the existing security solutions from other vendors they are largely oriented at enterprises. While ours is a bundled solution with four key features of data protection and encryption, device management, application control and asset management – all key security needs available in a suite at affordable price,” Patel added.
According to Patel, India has nearly 10 million SMBs, however when you cater your products to SMB market then the product needs to be price-sensitive and it should be easy to use as the most of the SMBs don't have large IT support staff.
“We want to be complete security vendor at the desktop level as we already have our UTM appliances at the gateway level. The End point data protection solution is offered with perpetual license and we expect more users' volume here as desktop security is driven by large user base. And we want to give the customers the control of end point security,” explained Tushar Sighat, Elitecore Technologies' vice president Operations – Cyberoam.
“In fact, our company's survey of user revealed that about 60-65 percent users needed a complete security product at the desktops. The data protection and encryption feature creates logs and reports of access, usage, change, transfer and file deletions, which allows organizations to understand the profile of individual users,” Sighat added.
In an attempt of unauthorized data access, the solution via central server alerts the system administration and blocks file access. It also provides full control against data leakages done using various removable devices.
With application control, the solution offers granular policy based control for access to different applications and sensitive data. Moreover, for multi-locations offices and users, the solution provides organizations the power and capabilities to control IT assets (software and hardware) across locations to protect any malware attacks and threats.
Elitecore Technologies was a start-up from Gujarat, which ventured into IT products during 1999 and slowly established in the IT security market with the Cyberoam UTM appliance. Recently, the company has made its way into the Gartner's Magic Quadrant report for SMB Multi-function firewalls.
The Carlyle Group funded company has about 400 channel partners in India and globally it has some 3000 partners including distributors and resellers. With the new solution, Sighat pointed that company want to expand its channel partner base as the business is channel driven.
According to Patel, the company wouldn't enter the anti virus (AV) market as it is already crowded and reckoned that by 2012, the anti virus and data leakage prevention (DLP) will get converged. “We will wait for some time to assess the users' response and feed on our new solution and then will plan our future strategy,” he added.
Moreover, Patel hasn't ruled out the option to bundle the new security suite with branded desktops and laptops in future. With this new end point data security solution, the company expects 200,000 - 250,000 user licenses by end of December 2010.
