SmarTone-Vodafone has deployed four Fortinet FortiGate integrated multi-threat security appliances in its datacenter for firewalling and intrusion prevention system (IPS) functionalities to secure its wireless network traffic. SmarTone-Vodafone has also deployed FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager appliances for centralized network visibility, reporting and management.

Stephen Chau, Chief Technology Officer of SmarTone-Vodafone, said, "As smartphone usage accelerates in Hong Kong, robust security is becoming increasingly important. With its reliable firewalling and IPS functionality on a consolidated security platform, Fortinet's solution provides us with better network security visibility and higher performance to meet our rapidly expanding wireless network requirements."

The SmarTone-Vodafone deployment further proves that Fortinet is at the forefront of the mobile security race. George Chang, regional director of Southeast Asia and Hong Kong region at Fortinet, adds, "Expanding and opening up networks for roaming, innovation in mobile services, and the significant adoption of mobile devices all have created new security challenges for telco operators. By protecting SmarTone-Vodafone's network, we further prove the advantage of our consolidated security solutions in terms of performance, flexibility and ROI as well as negate the argument that integrated security cannot also provide individual best-of-breed security applications."

All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard(R) Network, which helps protect against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic and more -- around the clock and around the world. Fortinet solutions have won multiple awards and are the only security products that are certified in five programs by ICSA Labs for firewall, antivirus, IPSec VPN, network IPS and antispam.
