It will be soon completed at the Sulthanpet Union. The pilot project is aimed at providing smart cards to students and teachers of government, private, Corporation and municipality schools.

The project was implemented in collaboration with the Anna University and the data collection process is still continuing across the Coimbatore district. The pilot project to test the software for this initiative would be completed in another ten days at Sulthanpet Union, says a report in the Hindu.

The smart card does not need to be changed in case of change in school but the data in the smart card will be updated frequently to track the changes in a student's life. Information will be processed in its data centre and the data centre too will issue smart cards.

The Head Masters or Principals of the respective schools are required to feed data such as attendance and results of their institutions to a dedicated website almost on a daily basis. This will enable the School Education Department to monitor the performance of schools.

Are all the principals or headmasters of government, municipality or private schools skilled enough to adapt to this transition?
