CHENNAI, INDIA: "Smac", the acronym for social, mobility, analytics and cloud, is not just the latest buzzword, but it's also quickly becoming a business reality. India, in terms of SMAC is considered as the next $100 billion game by the VP and MD of Google, Rajan Anandan.

He was presenting the keynote at the Confederation of Indian Industry Connect 2013, a two-day conference and exhibition on 'Towards Scaling New Frontiers in ICT".

In 2002, there were 2 million Internet users, and by 2012, it had increased to 150 million users. It is estimated to cross 200 billion by the end of 2013. By 2015, India will become the second largest Internet user in the world.

Anandan believes that it is very important to build a business for your future and not for your present in this fast growing economy. Reports state that India will be the largest mobile-first Internet market by 2015, as the percentage of mobile Internet users in China is around 12 percent, in the US, it is 15 percent, whle India constitutes 65 percent.

Another fast growing trend is the online video. Youtube, the most popular site for online videos has around 55 million views per month, which is a huge increase when compared to 2011, where the monthly views were 10 million. Therefore, it is safe to say that India is the second or third largest social media user.

A number of new companies that solely work on SMAC are Unmetric, Social Blood, Just unfollow and and Flipkart, which is the best example for the largest electronics shipping unit that solely work on SMAC.

Another interesting theory is that the largest players that use SMAC are the SMBs. An estimate of 47 million SMBs are regular users of SMAC. The digital advertising market is growing day by day as there is a 90 percent reduction in time while using SMAC.

Rajan Anandan concluded by saying that although India has the second largest Internet market, it still lags six years behind China, presently, the king of the Internet market.
