SEOUL, S.KOREA: SK Telecom, South Korea's top wireless carrier, said on Monday that it plans to invest a combined 1 trillion won ($888.4 million) in its mobile platform business for the next three years, and to export its platforms to the United States, China and Southeast Asia.

The operator said it would open up its platforms to third-party developers, allowing them to build content, services and applications for mobile devices.

SK Telecom, which controls around 50 per cent of the South Korean market, is the major seller of Samsung Electronics' Android-based Galaxy S smartphones here.
