Pratima Harigunani PUNE: Electronic payment and remittance services provider BillDesk would foray into payment through mobile phones and kiosks as well as online payment for credit cards in the next few months. It was planning to rollout its own solution for walk-in and mobile space in the next two to three months while partnering with banks to more provide solutions. “With a potent mobile population of 200 million, every cell owner is a future market for mobile payment channels but the challenge actually is to find out what would these mobile owners be ready to pay for through mobile,” said M N Srinivasu, co-founder and director, BillDesk. The company recently did a pilot-run with Sify center. BillDesk would also look at avenues where people can pay for credit cards online. “We plan to do this by the next quarter.” Srinivasu added that the coming six - nine months would see a push from banks from electronic payments to credit cards. He expected these to include utility payments as well. The company was also looking at possibilities for international extension, with markets like Asia on the company’s radar. Priority here would for money transfer. “We would however not foray out of India at least in the current fiscal,” he explained.
