Singtel increases stake in Bharti to 30.8%

NEW DELHI: Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) has increased its stake in Bharti Telecom

Ltd. (BTL) from 26.96 percent to 32.81 percent with corresponding dilution

of effective interest of Bharti Enterprise and its subsidiaries.






This has resulted in a marginal increase in the SingTel's beneficial
interest in Bharti Tele-Ventures from 28.16 percent to 30.84 percent.

Bharti Enterprises maintains a controlling interest of 45.90 percent in

Bharti Tele-Ventures, through its subsidiary BTL.






In another development, The board of director's of Bharti Tele-Ventures
Ltd has decided not to proceed with the proposed sponsored ADR due to lack

of sponsorship interest by most of its principal shareholders. Bharti

Tele-Ventures had in July 2004 announced its intention to proceed with a

sponsored ADR secondary offering of up to 200 million equity shares.
