The company claims that these importers operating out of Sahara and Manish Market in south Mumbi, were selling computer parts and peripherals, like 36-in-1 card readers, under the Tech-Com brand. Having roped in the Crime Branch of Mumbai to raid the importers and businessmen by the end of this week, Shree Sagarmatha is expecting some respite.

According to Amit Kedia, MD, Shree Sagarmatha Distributors, the offenders were using the Tech-Com brand to sell counterfeit computer peripherals to their customers. The alleged fraudsters were using the company's name—Shree Sagarmatha Distributors Pvt Ltd, on the MRP stickers.

After conducting a search on their own, the Delhi-based distributors found that the practice had spread to parts of Pune region as well. “Our sales in the Maharashtra region have been immensely affected as a result of this scam. In order to stop it from spreading any further we filed a case with the Crime Branch of Mumbai at Azad Maidan Police Station. This was a tedious procedure since we were not registered as a company and had no copyright protection in place, so it took us a lot of time to submit all the documents necessary for filing a complaint. However, we have been informed by the Crime Branch that with the evidence in place they will soon raid the shops of the businessmen and shopkeepers in question,” Said Kedia.

Post the incident Sagarmatha has revamped the Tech-Com logo and has also got its company registered. “Besides enhancing the look of our brand and ensuring copy right protection, the new logo will ensure that our business gets boosted further,” added Kedia.
