The new technology delivers higher resolutions, lower power consumption, and offer higher performance in touchscreens displays. It also delivers the same to the narrow bezel widths for LCD display panels used in mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

It enables even smaller thin-film transistors to be achieved and provides higher performance, compared to the current amorphous IGZO semiconductors. As per the company, the new IGZO can also be adapted for use in organic EL displays which hold out high expectations.

As there are challenges to commercialization, both in terms of service life and production, the company said it will continue to push ahead with R&D in anticipation of future market needs.
