SGI introduces SGI 2100 server

NEW DELHI, September 9 : SGI introduced the company's newest line of

midrange deskside servers, the SGI 2100, to deliver enterprise-class

performance and bandwidth to the server market at aggressive entry-level

price points.

The SGI 2100 is the first server to be introduced reflecting the

company's new identity and growing server and services business. The new

server, designed to meet customer demand, leverages the I/O bandwidth

technology of the SGI Origin 2000 server, the company's highly scalable

family of ccNUMA (cache-coherent non-uniform memory access) servers, and

offers customer powerful interoperability and scalability from

two-to-eight-processors. The SGI 2100 server with MIPS RISC

microprocessors is available in two-, four- or eight-processor

configurations with the IRIX 6.5 Advanced Server Environment.
