Google has officially announced Hindi support for its voice-based Google Assistant on Android phones running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow or above. It will also be rolling out this feature to Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android Oreo (Go edition)and iPhone devices soon.

Now, how to change the Assistant language to Hindi? To access Google Assistant in Hindi, you'll have to set your device language to Hindi and then touch and hold the Home button or say "OK Google" command. Though this may sound a little weird to have your phone language changed to Hindi but with Android, that's the only way to have Assistant speak in the language.

You need to download the latest Google Search app to receive the new experience. Further, Google has built a dedicated site to highlight what Hindi commands you can use in the Google Assistant app.

The move comes few months after the Internet giant had introduced Hindi Google Assistant on its messaging app Google Allo along with debuting a special variant of Google Assistant for JioPhone that supports Hindi and English. It had also rolled out limited support for Hindi language on Google Assistant app in January this year.
