MUMBAI: SES Technologies is looking forward to a major tie-up with Microsoft
for the latter's hardware business. SES would import Microsoft's mouse, keyboard
and various gaming devices, and distribute them in the country.
SES is also signing a contract with IBM wherein SES would import IBM mobile
processors and high-end server hard drives.
Says P K Krishnaprasad, chief executive, "We want to add value to the
distribution business that we are in."
A third tie-up is an extension of SES’ current alliance with Intel. SES has
become the exclusive distributor for Intel's motherboard chipsets. It will also
distribute Intel's consumer product line and mobile processors.
SES is taking up the distribution of computer telephony products from
Dialogic that was taken over by Intel last year. A separate division is being
established to distribute these products to those partners who provide
infrastructure to call centers and hospitality industry.
SES is also planning to focus on distributing assembled Intel notebooks. The
distributor company is confident of doing well with these notebooks since they
would be priced 30 per cent less than the branded products.
Krishnaprasad candidly admitted that a three-digit growth was impossible to
achieve this year given the slump in demand. However, he was confident that the
new alliances and product diversification would bring about a 35 to 40 per cent
growth.
