Senheiser Electronics enters Indian market

NEW DELHI: Senheiser Electronics, the German manufacturer of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems, has entered the Indian market through its subsidiary, Senheiser Electronics India Pvt. Ltd.

The company aims to launch headphones for MP3, Mobile and IP Telephony.

Sharmila Sahai, general manager of Senheiser India Electronics said the company would be targeting at the professional as well as the consumer segment in the country and was targeting at capturing seven per cent of the market.

“We will be launching specialised headphones for MP3 players, mobile and IP Telephony,” she told CyberMedia News.

“The mobile handset manufacturers have begun to realise that audio is crucial for a phone to be ‘best.’ Hence, we would be offering our intelligent audio technology for making specialised handsets for the mobiles,” Sahai said adding, the company was talking with some mobile handset manufacturing companies for bundling of headphones in India.   

Senheiser Electronics has a tie-up with Motorola and Nokia for supplying headphones globally.

“The music industry is also growing with the entry of MP3 players and iPods, and so is the case with the IP telephony market. We will be launching special headsets and hands free for these segments also in the coming months,” she said further.

The company is also aiming to tap the channel market with a network of distributors and channel partners for the mobile, IP telephony and MP3 segment, to make their products available throughout India. 

“Senheiser will take forward its business strategy in India through a three-phased approach. In the first year, we will focus on establishing the brand in the Indian market, building all spheres of the business, and extending the distributor network across India. The next phase will encompass driving growth and profitability and expanding the team, including the set-up of additional offices and after-sales service centres. Post establishing a firm footing in the market, we will move into a more evolved phase of enhancing the value of Senheiser in this region, driving market share and broadening the product range in the country,” Sahai added.
