Magma intros software solution BoardView

PARIS, FRANCE: Magma Design Automation, the vendor of EDA, based in San Jose, California, the United States, has introduced a software solution, called BoardView, which it claims to extend CAD navigation and circuit debug from ICs to PCBs as also multi-chip modules.

Magma Design Automation has claimed that its BoardView solution enables fab teams to trace “rapidly” signals on the PCB from chips to board and back again – and thus navigate failure-analysis tools to X, Y locations to determine the case of the fault.

The BoardView uses Camelot technology for circuit debug and IC CAD navigation in order to trace signals between the chip and the board. It reads chip layout formats and industry-standard PCB and displays them graphically.

According to Magma Design Automation, BoardView support formats like Virtuoso, OASIS, GDSII, AutoCAD Drawing Exchange Format (DXF), and Gerber. The chip layouts have been loaded from the Camelot database.

The company said that, for the time being, BoardView is in limited release. However, it expects that BoardView could be generally made available in the first quarter of 2010.

Right now, Magma Design Automation is associated with many customers based in Europe and the United States for beta-testing, according to Jim Kramer, the US accounts and strategic products manager for Magma Design Automation’s Fab Analysis Business Unit. Kramer said that the company has been closely working with its customers to validate the need for and define the capabilities of the BoardView.

The new product is planned to be releases in the second quarter of 2010.
