Alcor Micro bags orders from Lenovo

With the new orders for card reader controller ICs coming in, the company has said it has kick started R&D on new products

SAN JOSE, USA: In what could help NAND flash controller design house Alcor Micro push up its revenues, the company has garnered orders for card reader controller ICs from computer maker Lenovo. The new deal might help Alcor see revenues grow around 10 per cent for September 2009.

With the new orders coming in, the company has said it has kick started R&D on new products such as SSD controller chips and USB 3.0 solutions.

Alcor Micro said it has seen orders picking up from September. The NAND flash controller design house forecast revenues for the third quarter to increase 10-20 per cent sequentially. It may be recalled that the company had posted a dip in revenues in August.

The numbers slid 2.1 per cent on month and 17.6 per cent on year to NT$173 million ($5.27 million). Accumulated sales from January through August totaled NT$1.17 billion, down 12.3 per cent from the same period in 2008, said the company.
