Semicon ecosystem emerging in India: Lip-Bu Tan

BANGALORE, INDIA: Cadence Design Systems Inc. announced the Palladium XP II veification platform earlier this month. It allows upto four months faster time-to-market than the nearest competitor. Lip-Bu Tan, president and CEO, Cadence, said: "We are here to help you build new products. We are providing silicon to SoCs to systems." He was speaking at the ianugural session of the CDNLive event.

Cadence also introduced the Spectre XPS, a new FastSPICE simulator delivering up to 10X faster throughput.

Tan added that the semicon ecosystem was emerging in India. Ittiam, Thinci, Sonicchips, Signamchip, Sankalp, Saankhya Labs, Posedge, Orca Systems, Mindtree, etc., are some of the companies.

Now, there are plans to bring two multi-billlon fabs in India. Goals for 2020 include: achieve a turnover of $55 billion for chip design and embedded industry, and to grow 50 fabless companies with potential to grow to $200 million revenue.
