As with all other companies that communicate via email, DHFL found that they were vulnerable to spam attacks. In 2010, the company was dealing with some 631,200 emails per month, of which 20 per cent was spam mail. On average, users were getting around 8-10 spam emails per day. DHFL's IT team soon became inundated with calls from frustrated users as spam mails continually clogged up the company's email bandwidth.
