Seagate unveils Wireless Plus and Central storage devices

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Storage company Seagate Technology has added two new storage solutions - Seagate Central shared storage and Seagate Wireless Plus mobile device storage - to its portfolio.

Priced at Rs 16,000, Seagate Wireless Plus, is currently available with the retailers and LFR stores, the company said. While Seagate Central, to be available in early April, comes for Rs 10,500 (2TB); 14,400 (3TB); and Rs 17,700 (4TB).

Seagate ED for sales in Japan, South Asia, ASEAN and ANZ, Futoshi Niizuma believes that 2013 is an evolutionary year in storage led by mobile revolution. "Mobile adoption is in full swing with smartphones and tablets," he said.

Niizuma said that mobile data is growing through 2016, at a CAGR of 78 per cent that could reach 10.8 Exabytes. "The new products are protected with encryption which is an added security feature," he informed.

Seagate Central allows consumers to share and aggregate content across various devices and can be accessed remotely. Seagate Media app can be leveraged with Samsung Smart TV to browse content with remote control.

Seagate Wireless Plus device broadcasts its own Wi-Fi network that allows users to stream media wirelessly. The free Seagate Media app for iOS and Android help navigate content on-the-go. It allows upto eight device to share content simultaneously.

Seagate Technology country manager for India, SAARC, Vietnam and Philippines Rajesh Khurana said that both of their new products are revolutionary that facilitate access to content anywhere. "With changing lifestyle needs, there is a humongous demand to access content on the go," Khurana added.
