HYDERABAD: Shares of Hyderabad based IT services major Satyam Computer Services are witnessing heavy trading volumes in a sluggish session, with over 2 crore shares having already changed hands on both exchanges combined.

On the BSE, the stock is quoting at Rs 230.90, up 1.7 per cent over the previous close, with around 65 lakh shares having been traded. This is more than twice the trading volumes of next nine most actively traded securities put together on the BSE so far.

The stock was in the news earlier this month when one of the affiliates of private equity fund Warburg Pincus, picked up a 5.33 per cent stake in the company. Dealers tracking the counter said there has been active institutional buying interest at the counter during the week, but the identity of the buyers is yet to be confirmed.
