BANGALORE: Sasken Communication Technologies has announced the launch of its wholly owned subsidiary, Sasken Network Engineering Ltd (SNEL), which will provide network planning, deployment, commissioning, integration and network operations support to network equipment vendors and operators.

SNEL was formed following Sasken's acquiring Blue Broadband Technologies' business. According to the press release, this acquisition instantly gave Sasken a team of more than 100 highly experienced engineers, comprehensive infrastructure and existing customer relationships with leading wireless equipment vendors.

Sasken Communication Technologies and ROHM Co Ltd of Japan have also successfully developed a complete GSM/GPRS chipset solution including the baseband and protocol software. This solution has already secured early design-in's with OEM's and ODM's (Original Design Manufacturers) in the Far East market. Phones using ROHM's chipset with Sasken's protocol software will be part of phones that will be launched by April 2005 timeframe.

"The launch of SNEL positions Sasken as one of the few telecom technology companies worldwide that provide end-to-end services across the wireless lifecycle from chip design, R&D, product development, software design & development, testing and network deployment, integration and post deployment maintenance and support," said Sasken Communication Technologies CEO and chairman Rajiv C Mody.
