NEW DELHI:Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin today termed the Ruias as "good partners" and said his company is open to partner with Essar, which has 33 per cent stake in Hutch-Essar
Vodafone is interested in buying whatever stake is available in Hutch-Essar, who arrived here today,Sarin said. Vodafone would put a bid for Hutch-Essar in the next few weeks.
Sarin held talks with union ministers Kamal Nath and P Chidambaram. During his meeting with finance minister Chidambaram, he discussed his company’s plans for India.
Vodafone’s willingness to partner with Essar gained significance following his meeting with the ministers.
Essar vice-chairman Ravi Ruia also held talks with Chidambaram.
Meanwhile, the board of Reliance Communications at its meeting today authorized company chairman Anil Ambani to take all necessary steps for a possible acquisition of Hutch-Essar.
