SAP tops enterprise soln mkt in India

BANGALORE: SAP India, the leading provider of business software solutions today announced that it has retained its market leadership position in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) markets. According to International Data Centre’s (IDC) figures released today, SAP has registered a market share of 57.4 per cent in ERP and 26 per cent in CRM.

As per the IDC report, the ERP Applications market in India rebounded in 2002, and is estimated at USD 49.7 Million, registering a growth of 26 per cent as compared to 2001. The CRM Applications market in India is estimated at USD 10.5 Million for the year 2002, growing by 38 per cent compared to 2001. The IDC figures validate SAP’s consistent leadership position in the enterprise application market.

Alan Sedghi, President & Managing Director, SAP Indian Sub continent, commenting on SAP’s consistent growth said, “This consistent performance is a reflection of our product superiority, benchmark customer support, ability to better understand client needs, and domain expertise and experience. Our approach of offering verticalised solutions has helped us strengthen our position in the market.”

He further added, “We are extremely pleased with our performance in India. We have a dominant market-share and we expect to sustain that. The growth has been substantial in all aspects of business, in terms of software growth, professional services growth, and our development subsidiary. SAP India is one of the fastest growing operations of SAP in Asia.”

Kapil Dev Singh, Country Manager, IDC India, said, "SAP continues to be the market leader in the ERP and CRM markets in India. Mature and stable product backed by strong sales push and service support have helped them post strong business performance in the country. IDC expects SAP to maintain its leadership position in 2004 as well."
