BANGALORE, INDIA: Ranjan Das, the president of SAP Indian Subcontinent, and MD of SAP India, passed away today. He was 42.
"This comes as a great shock to all of us within the SAP family and is felt most profoundly by every one of us," SAP said in a statement.
A veteran of over fifteen years in in the enterprise software industry, spanning areas such as general management, sales, product development, consulting, and marketing, Das had played a key role in the growth of SAP in the region.
Ranjan relocated to Mumbai in July 2007 from SAP’s offices in Silicon Valley in the US. At SAP Labs in the US, he co-founded the business unit for xApps, the first packaged composite business applications in the industry.
Prior to joining SAP, he was the founder and CEO of Patkai Networks Inc., a Silicon Valley-based venture capital-funded software startup company.
Ranjan Das obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
