NEW DELHI: To reflect its focus on the IT and telecom sectors, Samsung
Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. has recast its identity as Samsung Electronics India
Information and Telecom Ltd. (SEIIT). This strategic move has been taken to
accelerate the company's growth in this segment. The new name will soon be
featured in the company's advertising and marketing communications. Samsung also
plans to go public within the next one year.
Samsung has launched four new laser printers in the market - ML 4600, ML
6060, ML 5200A and SF 5100P.
The ML4600 is priced at Rs 19,750 while the ML6060 is priced between Rs
45,000 and Rs 5,000. The ML 5200 is priced at Rs 26,000 while the price of
multifunctional fax machine is Rs 39,000.
The Rs 740 crore turnover company has impressive market shares in most
product categories it operates in. Speaking on the occasion of the launch,
Samsung Electronics managing director K S Kim said, "The company is
targeting a 30 per cent market share in the laser printer category by the end of
2001." It is confident of becoming a market leader within a year despite
facing stiff competition in this sector.
