Samsung sees Q4 chip earnings rising

SEOUL, S.KOREA: Samsung Electronics Co Ltd's semiconductor head expects chipmakers, including Hynix, to report stronger earnings in the current quarter from the third on robust chip prices, a report said.

"Generally, chip prices tend to fall by about 20 per cent in the first quarter from the fourth quarter," online news outlet eDaily quoted Kwon Oh-hyun as saying at an industry event.

"But prices in the first quarter of 2010 will be better than previous years."
