Following Apple's launch of iPad earlier this year, many electronics makers are thinking of coming up with similar devices to compete, and Samsung has been no exception.

“We are planning to launch a table computer called 'Galaxy Tab'. It will be launched no later than the third quarter of this year,” Dow Jones Newswires quoted J.K. Shin, president of Samsung's mobile division, as saying in an interview.

The new tablet is expected to run on Google Inc.'s Android operating system.
