These are tough times for Samsung. To rebound from the Samsung Galaxy S7 debacle, the South Korean tech company is planning to make a strong comeback with S8 that could include an AI assistant.

Samsung plans to integrate Viv, a San Jose-based AI company that Samsung acquired last month, into its next version of Galaxy smartphones and expand voice-assistant services to home appliances and wearable technology devices.

Though the company is yet to provide the full details, Samsung Executive Vice President Rhee Injong, referring to its AI assistant said, "Developers can attach and upload services to our agent. Even if Samsung doesn't do anything on its own, the more services that get attached the smarter this agent will get, learn more new services and provide them to end-users with ease."

According to Engadget report, "Viv can create its own programs and understand complex intent in a way many AIs can't," which will make the Viv-built Samsung AI assistant stand out from the crowd - Apple's Siri, Microsoft's Cortana, Google's Google Assistant.

As per Reuters report, Samsung plans more acquisitions to bolster its AI and other software capabilities.

We hope that, with Galaxy S8, Samsung will regain its lost glory. Eventually, that's what company is also hoping for.
