Samsung to expand Brand Shop network

NEW DELHI: Samsung India is targeting to expand its Brand Shop network across the country by 30 percent within this year to enhance market penetration and growth of market.

At present there are 80 Samsung Brand Shops in the country. Deputy MD, Samsung India R. Zutshi said that by enhancing the product availability across multibrand counters beyond nine cities it would be able to tap a major share in LCD TVs market in the country.

On the launch of six new LCD models Zutchi said that the company had sold 1.5 million colour TVs last year and recorded 100 percent jump in Flat TV sales last year. “We are targeting to sell 1.8 million TV this year including the Flat and Slim Flat TVs. We are planning to commence the production of SlimFit TVs at our Noida facility by February end,” he said.

He said that in the direction of becoming more customer oriented and responding faster to the needs of the market, the company has put in place a regional sales structure. The growth drivers for the year 2006 are Flat TV and digital media products.

“Our differential product offering and the growing product availability will help fule the growth of LCD market. We are hopeful that the Flat Panel TVs would contribute 5 percent to our total CTV sales this year. We are targeting a market share of around 50 percent in the fast growing Flat Panel TV market in the country,” Pradeep Tognatta, director, Sales, Samsung India, said.
