Samsung sees higher chip shipments in Q2

SEOUL, S. KOREA: Samsung Electronics Co, the world's top memory chip maker, forecast on Friday that shipments of global dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips would rise by a low teen per cent in the second quarter from the previous quarter, while its shipments were seen rising by a mid-teen per cent.

It also forecast shipments of NAND flash chips, used in smartphones, digital cameras and music players, would rise by around 20 per cent in the current quarter, with Samsung's shipments likely to incresase by more than 30 per cent.
