BANGALORE, INDIA: It was supposed to be Pranab Mukherjee's day, alright. But there was one certain individual answering to the name of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar to play spoilsport.
Soon after the Finance Minister delivered the Union Budget for 2012-13, the Indian batsman took the crease at Mirpur, Bangladesh. The batting genius not only took the stadium by storm with his sedate, yet measured hundredth century, but in the process stole the thunder from Pranabda.
Until early afternoon, Union Budget and its scriptwriter Mukherjee got their due space in both the conventional and social media. As he collected his singles and twos and occasional boundaries, Tendulkar was slowly climbing up the charts, especially on social media of the nation that was waiting for almost a year for the Little Master's astonishing feat.
It was Mukherjee who bore most brunt of the batsman's attack, with only Union Budget barely managing to remain above him as a hot talking point on Facebook, Twitter and other networking sites.
This, however, was not the first time Sachin has done it. In 2010, when he compiled the first-ever double ton in One-Day Internationals, Mamata Banerjee and her Railway Budget suffered at his hands, which took away Didi's space.
This time around, some online users even expressed concern over how newspapers were going to divide space for both significant developments.
