CALCUTTA: Calcutta-based RS Software (I) Limited has registered a revenue of Rs 66.8 crore as against last year’s Rs 40.9 crore, a jump of around 63 percent. The net profit went up by 85 percent--from Rs 6 crore to Rs 11.1 crore. RS Software director Raj Jain said, "In 1997-98, our bottomline was only Rs 3 crore. The company then made a decision to incorporate significant changes in the operation. Since April 1998, we have been able to increase our profits by almost 275 percent. This is a reflection of the successful implementation of our process architecture."

RS Software recently achieved the SEI-CMM level 4 accreditation. It has also tied-up with the US-based Hanover Direct to develop Internet and web-based applications. The company, mainly known for its services in the legacy application area, now plans to develop leading B2B solutions. There are expectations that web-based ventures will account for 35 percent of the total revenue base of the company by 2001. The company has also initiated people practices and adopted the People Capability Maturity Model (P-CMM), of Software Engineering Institute, USA.
