Rs 1000 cr allotted for e-courts

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who presented the Union Budget for the Financial Year 2011-12 in Parliament on Monday, said that the government has approached Unicode for getting international standard for rupee symbol.

He also said around Rs 1000 crore has been allotted to judiciary for establishment of e-courts.

While announcing that Goods and Services Tax (GST) roll out will be on April 1, 2012 he said the bill for this will be introduced in parliament this year. Mukherjee also said GST will improve compliance and the government is setting up strong IT network for the implementation.
