BANGALORE,INDIA: OPNET Technologies, Inc., a provider in networks and applications services and Riverbed Technology, a provider in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced that OPNET’s ACE Live would be offered on the Riverbed services platform (RSP) by the end of calendar 2008.

OPNET’s software for end-user experience monitoring and real-time network analytics will run on the RSP in riverbed steelhead appliances, said a press release.

By running ACE Live on riverbed services platform, organizations can achieve enhanced application performance management in WAN-optimized environments, with no additional equipment at the branch office, enabling greater ROI on their capital investment, it said.

The RSP is an enterprise-class platform that enables a drastic reduction in the branch office IT footprint by running up to five remote office third-party software modules--without the need for separate dedicated servers, it added. OPNET’s ACE Live provides monitoring, measurement, and detection of application performance violations.

It supports complete visibility and reporting of all transactions and users, with detailed real-time and historical information about end-user response times, utilization, route quality, and ISP performance.

ACE Live on RSP allows organizations to make the most of their accelerated WAN environment by monitoring application response time to ensure end user performance meets business requirements. “OPNET is committed to delivering solutions that keep us at the forefront of innovation in end-to-end application performance management,” stated Alain Cohen, OPNET president and CTO.

He added that by partnering with Riverbed, they are able to deliver a completely unique offering with the ACE Live on RSP, enabling the only single-box solution for application acceleration and performance management. “Riverbed is working closely with strategic partners, such as OPNET, to provide best-of-breed services to enterprises looking to consolidate their IT footprint at the branch office,” said Alan Saldich, vice president of product management and alliances at Riverbed.

“Unlike alternatives, we’re providing customers with greater flexibility and intelligence by allowing the branch office partner software the ability to leverage the RiOS acceleration pathway.

This is a unique capability in our market,” he added. He said that by working closely with OPNET to provide ACE Live on the RSP our customers would be able to take advantage of enhanced application visibility.
