Rituparno Ghosh no more, watch his National Award winning movies on YouTube

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Renowned filmmaker and National Award winner Rituparno Ghosh died on Thursday. He was 49. He has made several award winning movies in Bengali, Hindi and English.

Ghosh, who was suffering from pancreatitis, passed away due to a massive heart attack at his residence around 7.30 a.m., his colleague Gautam Ghosh told reporters. Some of his famous movies are Chokher Bali, Unishe April, The Last Lear, Dahan, Raincoat and so on. Rituparno Ghosh has won 12 National Awards for his films

Shocked colleagues and friends gathered at the home of the much awarded filmmaker as news of the death spread. Celebrities have also taken to Twitter to express their grief and disbelief on the incident.

''Saddened to hear about unfortunate demise of Rituparno Ghosh. He will be remembered for his brilliant filmmaking. May his soul rest in peace,'' tweeted Narendra Modi. ''Shocked by passing of Rituparno Ghosh. He was dreaming of getting into what he called his 'next phase'. Hugely creative explorer on film,'' Tweets Shekhar Kapur.

''There won't be another Friday with another new Rituparno Ghosh film; no more queuing the theatres before the reviews come out,'' says another tweet.
