The personal-liable user model is meeting with less resistance and volumes are expected to increase between 2012 and 2017.

In reaction to dealing with the new realities and challenges of the multi-device OS enterprise, Strategy Analytics (SA) is seeing significant growth of enterprise mobility management (EMM).

A new Strategy Analytics Mobile Workforce Strategies (MWS) report "Understanding BYOD is Changing Role of Mobile Device Management (MDM) in Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM)" looks at how the rise of BYOD plays in the future of MDM and demonstrates how vendors with different technology backgrounds are approaching the MDM market.

Gina Luk, senior analyst of mobile enterprise strategies at Strategy Analytics and author of the report, said: "We see vendors from a range of IT security and services backgrounds are now converging on the MDM space with the aim of taking a significant share of this market. It is no longer purely the domain of specialist enterprise mobility vendors who are strongly positioned in terms of core technical capabilities."

"There is room for the MDM market to grow further, but even with its phenomenal growth, there are too many vendors for the market to sustain them all, and we expect to see considerable consolidation during the next 12 to 24 months," added Andrew Brown, executive director of Enterprise Research at Strategy Analytics.
