Renesas deploys CSR's connectivity platform

NEW DELHI, INDIA: CSR Plc, a provider of personal wireless technology, on Friday announced that its automotive-qualified location and connectivity hardware and software have been deployed by Renesas Electronics Corporation for use in its automotive infotainment reference platform.

This reference platform will enable Renesas to deliver location and connectivity capabilities and to help automotive Tier-1 suppliers, OEMs and third-party software solution providers ease their development efforts, the company claimed in a press release.

The company offers CSR SiRFstarIV GSD4e-9500 AEC-100-qualified GPS engine, CSR8311 AEC-100-qualified Bluetooth connectivity solution, CSR6000 AEC-100-qualified Wi-Fi connectivity solution and CSR SiRFDRive turn-key dead-reckoning solution, etc.

“The CSR and SiRFstar names are virtually synonymous with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS solutions in the automotive market, and their technology leadership in delivering innovations such as active jammer removal for GPS, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth low energy and Wideband Speech will help our customers deliver market leading products,” said Amrit Vivekanand, director of Business Development, Automotive Business Unit, Renesas Electronics America.

“We are extremely pleased with the level of support we have received from CSR in our efforts to create a world-class, future-proof reference platform that focuses on enhancing the consumer experience with innovative technologies,” he added.

The platform is based on the Linux Genivi OS, and demonstrates all the key features of a complete in-vehicle infotainment platform, such as a rich graphical user interface with support for Internet connectivity and advanced graphics demos, a media player, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, voice recognition, GPS with associated navigation and location-based applications and a full range of AM, FM and HD radios, the release added.
