AHEMADABAD: Close on the heels of Tata Teleservices, announcing its prepaid card in CDMA, Reliance Infocomm, will become the second player, which will launch its prepaid cards shortly.

With over three million postpaid subscribers, Reliance Infocomm is now targeting those customers who do not wish to pay rentals.

Reliance has tied up with the US based networking company Comverse Technology, supplier of network based multimedia enhanced, communications services, to offer prepaid services. What Reliance has failed to make a consensus on, is the price segment.

Though the Monsoon Hungama of Rs 501, made Reliance fulfill its target number of customers, it is not certain whether to introduce the same price or to have an entry-level bottom cost. It will have to bring down its prepaid segment to a start price of Rs 51 or Rs 101 with an incentive for handsets too.
